Abstract: Sports infrastructure plays a vital role in fostering athletic excellence, promoting grassroots participation, and strengthening a state’s sporting culture. Kalinga Stadium, situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has emerged as one of India’s premier sports complexes, hosting numerous national and international sporting events while nurturing athletes across multiple disciplines. The present qualitative study explores the role of Kalinga Stadium as a catalyst for sports development in Odisha by examining its contribution to infrastructure development, athlete training, talent identification, sports administration, economic growth, and international recognition. The study is based on secondary sources, including government reports, policy documents, journal articles, books, and media publications. Thematic analysis was employed to identify major themes associated with sports development. The findings reveal that Kalinga Stadium has significantly transformed Odisha into a leading sporting destination through strategic investments in infrastructure, athlete welfare, coaching facilities, sports science, and international event management. The study concludes that the stadium has become a model of integrated sports development and provides recommendations for sustaining long-term growth in sports across the state.
