Professionalism and Pedagogical Skills: An Analytical Study of School Teachers in Sikkim

Abstract: This study set out to examine how well-trained educators in Sikkim are able to impart knowledge to their pupils. A total of 215 secondary school teachers from both public and private institutions were chosen at random using a stratified sampling method to participate in this descriptive and analytical study. A two-part structured questionnaire measuring instructors’ pedagogical abilities and professionalism on a five-point Likert scale was used to gather data. Teachers’ degrees of professionalism and pedagogical competence varied significantly, according to the results. Teachers who exhibit greater levels of professional behaviour also tend to have superior teaching competences, as shown by the substantial positive connection (r = 0.717, p < 0.01) between professionalism and pedagogical skills. The research highlights how ethical training and continuing professional development may improve the quality of education in Sikkim schools and how successful teachers can be.
